Value Study
Our approach is to examine an existing IT environment from the perspective of how application environments are implemented. The associated power, space, required software and operational costs will be assessed in a short study. An alternative approach or set of approaches based on Fujitsu Siemens' Dynamic Data Center solutions would then be described together with associated costs. A comparative summary would show expected savings.
To gather the required relevant data FSC will need to engage with the relevant personnel in your organisation and obtain information on deployed application sets, upcoming projects and their associated server, network and storage resources. Provided cost related information on areas such as infrastructure, personnel and maintenance for the existing environment would validate the assessment otherwise the process would use industry standard costs.
You will receive a written report describing the assessment and the obtained results. Alternative solutions for application deployment will be described together with their cost implications, which are expected to be expressed as headline savings that you can expect.
Areas of Data Centre implementation and their associated costs which are out of scope for the DDC Challenge are :
  • Data Centre network design
  • Data Centre building consolidation or relocation
  • Outsource opportunity review
  • Detailed review of operational, management or ITIL related process
  • Rack/hardware consolidation where the technology is "ring fenced" as managed service for 3rd parties
  • Installation of any server hardware or software of any kind
  • Installation or configuration of network hardware, software or connectivity of any kind
The DDC Challenge can provide an organisation a useful assessment of the infrastructure impact of application provision in their Data Centres today and indicate in concrete terms cost reductions resulting in business value.
